Established in 1859, Anoka County was once quite active in the fur and logging trade. The county seat is located in the city of Anoka.

Dakota County was named for the Dakota Sioux tribes. Is located in eastern Minnesota and covers an area of 587 mi². It has a population of 425,423, making it the third most populous county in Minnesota. The county was established in 1849 and the county seat is currently located in Hastings. The area experiences an average of 32 inches of rain, 46 inches of snow, and 196 days of sunshine per year.
